How to activate Windows without calling

Entered your product key and Windows is showing error 0xC004C008? No problem. Windows may offer activation “by phone”, but you don’t actually need to make a call. With our GetCID tool, you can get the confirmation code in just a few seconds.

How to install Windows

If Windows is not installed yet, start with the installation. If it is already installed, skip directly to the activation instructions below.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool or a Windows ISO file. You can find the download links on our Downloads page.
2. Create Windows installation media on a USB drive (recommended) or DVD.
3. Turn on your computer and select the USB drive or DVD as the boot device. On most computers, the boot menu can be opened with F11 or F12 during startup.
4. Install Windows 10 or Windows 11. Important: choose the edition that matches your product key and make sure its name does not contain “N”.

How to activate Windows without calling

1. Open Settings → Update & Security → Activation.
2. Click Change product key and enter your 25-character product key.
3. If activation fails and an error appears (the code usually ends in 008), click Activate by phone. This will display the Installation ID (IID) — you will not need to call anyone.
   In some versions of Windows, this button is replaced by Get Help or an automated troubleshooter. Open it and follow the instructions shown on screen.
4. Open Keycode.cloud GetCID .
5. Enter the IID displayed by Windows and the password included in your order email.
6. Your CID should appear within a few seconds, or within one minute at the latest. If you have any problems, reply to your order email and send us the IID — we’ll help you.
7. Enter the CID into the corresponding fields in the Windows activation wizard and click Activate.
8. Done. Windows is activated.
9. If Windows reports that it cannot be activated by phone, shut down the computer for a few minutes and turn it back on. The activation status will usually update automatically.
